Players must purchase the "San Van Party Pack" downloadable content in order to access the offline "Party Play" mode. Unlike the previous Skate games, Skate 3 has no offline multiplayer game modes on the disc. In "Own The Lot", two or more players try to complete tasks before their time limit ends. In "Domination", teams compete to gain the most points on set spots in an area within a time limit. In "1-Up", players compete in turns to beat the other team's last score in a given time period. EA introduced three new online game modes: "1-Up", "Domination", and "Own The Lot". Similar to the Tony Hawk games, Skate features a "Skate.Park" mode that allows players to build custom skate parks. Several notable skateboarding professionals appear throughout the game, such as Danny Way, Darren Navarette, Terry Kennedy, Eric Koston, Chris Cole, Pat Duffy and Jason Lee. Industrial is the most unusual it is home to a huge quarry that has bricks of stone. Downtown is full of slick rigid ledges and rails, while the University is full of banks and open areas. Although the overall look of the city is very clean (except industrial) each district has its own unique designs and monuments. Port Carverton is made up of three districts, Downtown, the University, and Industrial. Although the location is a more colorful and friendlier place than Skate 2's de-saturated, and grainy streets, the gameplay provides a similar feel to the first and second games. The game takes place in the fictional city of Port Carverton, which embraces skateboarding, unlike the "skateboarding is a crime" mentality portrayed in the second game. It is a skateboarding extreme sports game set in an open world environment and played from a third-person perspective. If they released a Skate 4 with a larger unified map and better assets and lighting, that game could easily land in the 8s or 9s.Skate 3 (stylized as skate 3) is the third installment in the Skate series. The acting is not serious, it's kinda funny and avoids being cheesy. Even if somebody never played these on their respective consoles, they should definitely give it a try on the Xbox One.

I know people are disappointed that the series is basically dead, but Skate 3 on the One X is the best thing anybody could ask for with no remaster in sight. The servers are still up and I got matched up online faster than in Halo 5. This shit is in 4K HDR, looks good, plays well and it's SKATE! I had the same idiotic smile on my face when I first played Skate 2. Maybe it was all nostalgia, along with having a brand new badass Playstation 3.Īfter I was reminded of this game I hopped onto the One X and I found Skate 3 on EA Access.

My 14 year old brain didn't have the attention span that would've given this game justice and forgot about it. The music was great, the challenges were fun.Īfter that, I got into some other games with some friends and played tons of MP Uncharted and other stuff. Even if you fucked up the physics took care of that and amused you with some great ragdoll cement licking. Then, one day after another 4 hour session I just did that thing and it was cathartic. There was a thing that I couldn't do because I sucked. Again, I am in no way deep into skating games, I can't analyze them, I don't know shit, I just got that game when I was 14 and I played the shit out of it on the PS3. My parents got it for me, mainly because it was finally a game I wanted that didn't literally had "BAD COMPANY" in it's fucking game. I just really fucking liked the Skate 2 demo. I have no connection to skater culture or the sport itself. After the Tony Hawk announcement I was reminded how much time I sank into a game that I got for my birthday simply because the demo was absolutely crazy.
